About Our Staff

Jackie Collins, Pastor

I would like to share with you a little about myself. I have been serving as a pastor now for more than 35 years, and before that I served as an associate pastor for two years while I was still in school. I am married to the former Janice Parker of Maiden, NC. We have two sons who are both adults, serving the Lord faithfully in their respective churches, Mark in Charlotte and David in Raleigh. Mark is a medical doctor, specializing in family medicine. He has a practice in south Charlotte. David is an accounting manager who works in the Research Triangle near Raleigh. Janice and I have four wonderful grandchildren and two "grand puppies."

Scott Sprinkle, Minister of Music

Scott Sprinkle, the associate pastor and minister of music at Ridgeway Baptist Church, is a native of Asheville, NC. He is the son of Rev. Larry and Sandra Sprinkle who reside in Asheville as well. Growing up in a minister’s home, Scott had an early appreciation for music and worship. As a child, Scott was involved in many of the Buncombe Baptist Association’s children and youth musicals. In elementary and junior high school, he became involved in operas with Mars Hill College, local community theater, and various choral events.

Scott graduated from Clyde A. Erwin High School in 1996. It was there that Scott met his future wife, Ericka. Both of them were active in the Erwin High School choral program.  They attended and graduated from Mars Hill College in 2000 and married in 2001. Scott and Ericka gave birth to their daughter, Kennedy, in 2002.

In January 2000, Scott came to the church to serve as interim music minister. In June 2000, he became the full-time music minister and associate pastor. Scott is truly appreciative of the opportunity God has given him in these respective positions.

Susan Wines, Pianist

Susan Warren Wines grew up attending Ridgeway Baptist Church. She learned to play the piano at a young age and has served as church pianist for more than 25 years. Susan has been employed by Progress Energy for over 20 years. She has two sons, Nathan and Justin, and one grandson.

Carolyn Fowler, Organist

Carolyn Fowler is the former Carolyn Kilpatrick. She grew up attending Ridgeway Baptist Church. She has served as church organist for more than 25 years. She served as a teacher assistant and bus driver at Candler Elementary School for more than 30 years. She has three children, six grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.

Barbara Surrett, Church Secretary

There are never two days exactly alike in the life of a church secretary. One day the phone never stops ringing. The next day might be so quiet you pray to hear the sound of another human voice. Barbara Surrett is always there to give a word of encouragement, offer a shoulder to cry on, provide information, publish bulletins and newsletters, and provide support services for Pastor Jackie and Scott.

Married to Joyce Surrett, Barbara is the mother of three daughters. She has served as church secretary for over 16 years.

Darlene Henson

Darlene Henson has served as custodian for more than six years. Her schedule revolves around the church activities. She is always very accommodating when it comes to working around weddings, showers, mission group meetings, special dinners, holiday activities, and many other functions.

Darlene is married to Dale Henson.

Dwight Davis, Maintenance

Dwight Davis is our ever-faithful utility man. He maintains a comfortable atmosphere in our building by keeping a check on the heating and air conditions. He opens up the building before services and locks up afterward.

Dwight has lived in the Ridgeway Community for many years.
