In elementary and junior high school, he became involved in operas with Mars Hill College, local community theater, and various choral events.
Scott graduated from Clyde A. Erwin High School in 1996. It was there that Scott met his future wife, Ericka. Both of them were active in the Erwin High School choral program.  They attended and graduated from Mars Hill College in 2000 and married in 2001. Scott and Ericka gave birth to two daughters, Kennedy and Avery.
In January 2000, Scott came to the church to serve as interim music minister. In June 2000, he became the full-time music minister and associate pastor. Scott is truly appreciative of the opportunity God has given him in these respective positions.
