                                         Special Missions
Special mission offerings are taken at various times in the church calendar year. In the spring, around Easter, we receive the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering to support North American Missions. In the winter, around Christmas, we receive the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering to support Foreign Missions. At other times we receive offerings to support our Children’s Home Ministry of North Carolina. Also, we are involved in a variety of other mission projects that relate to Samaritan’s Purse, prison ministries, and rest home ministries.

                                                                   Missions
The following groups provide opportunities to serve in local, state, north American and foreign missions.  Please contact the church office at 828.667.4442 for further information about joining one or more of these groups.

Baptist Men
The Baptist Men's group at Ridgeway exists for the following reasons:

  •     To help our men stand strong in their faith and to be godly men at home, work, and

        everywhere they go.

  •     To help all church members grow in the Lord and to be actively involved in missions.

We hold two meetings monthly, on the first and third Wednesday nights. The meetings are

typically held from 6:00 - 7:00 pm.  We encourage all men to join us for these meetings. In our

meetings we have prayer time, singing, devotionals, and discussion of our upcoming ministry

efforts. Detailed information about our various activities are listed on the Baptist Men Ministries page.

As with our regular meetings, we encourage all to be involved in these activities.

Women's Missionary Union (WMU)
The WMU of Ridgeway Baptist Church is a mission oriented organization within the church and the local and worldwide communities: doing for others and helping to support the love of God. Our emphasis is missions within the United States and locally. We pray for our international missionaries and the work they are doing in places we are able to see only through their eyes.
We raise our own money through suppers that we have twice a year and offerings from the women themselves. We also help the Baptist Men with the car show held each year. Also, donations come in from special people throughout the year.
Some of the things that we do with our funds include:
   •    Donating to the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering
   •    Donating to the Children's Home Offering
   •    Donating to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering
   •    Preparing bags of food for travelers who stop by the church for assistance
   •    Preparing Christmas boxes for our Appalachian Ministry in West Virginia,

through the Hands of Hope Ministry
   •    Donating to the Crossfire Basketball Ministry
   •    Helping send girls to camps and special programs that might be beneficial to

         them in becoming Christian leaders
   •    Participating in the WNC Mountain State Fair, demonstrating the love of Christ

with time and preparing food, bears, and salvation bracelets

   •    Making encouragement baskets to share God's love
   •    Fellowship time out together
   •    Silent auction at the annual Ridgeway Car Show

   •    Community Kitchen of Canton

Helping with various other projects of the church.

The WMU is dedicated to encouraging and supporting each other while ministering to the needs of others. The group meets twice a month on the first and third Wednesday nights.6:00-6:45. Any changes to these times will be listed in the church bulleti
Ladies of all ages are invited to join us for our meetings. In our meetings we have prayer time, devotionals, and discussion of upcoming ministry and encouragement efforts. Please join us at our next meeting!

Girls in Action (GAs)

Girls in Action is open to girls in grades 1st through 6th. We meet on the first and third Wednesdays of the month from 6-7pm. The motto for GA’s is “Go Forward”. This group of girls is very active in mission projects. Some of the projects include making gifts for the widow and widowers banquet, building “build a bears” for Samaritans Purse, and setting up a booth for Ridgeway Baptist’s annual car show to support a local women’s cancer fund. In this process we hope to teach the girls that we all have struggles and the more Christ like-minded we become, the more we can “Go Forward”!

Royal Ambassadors (RAs)
RA's at Ridgeway Baptist Church is for boys in grades 1-6. It is held throughout the entire school year on the first and third Wednesday nights of each month. Our meeting time is 6-7:00 pm. RAs is not held in the weeks of summer vacation from school. The RA Pinewood Derby car race, a major event each year,  is held in March for our association and in April for the state competition.
Highlights of our RA year are the Foreign Missions Study in November, an overnight camping event for the boys and their dads, and the North American Mission Study in April. Watch the bulletin for specific dates and times. In the bimonthly meetings we learn about missions at home and abroad and build lifetime friendship among the boys through fellowship and fun. The goal of Ridgeway Royal Ambassadors is to prepare our boys to be the Baptist Men of the future.

Mission Friends
Mission Friends is for children age 3 through 6. Missionaries in different countries are featured each month with concentration on the country’s climate and animals. Prayers are offered for all missionaries. Mission Friends have a lot of fun doing craft projects that reinforce the missionary’s country of the month. Mission Friends meets twice a month on the first and third Wednesdays.
